Life Opportunities Service
Care Co-ops Life Opportunities Service
Introduction
Care Co-ops' Life Opportunities Service run a wide range of groups from our centre at the Westergate Business Centre, just off Moulsecoomb Way. In addition, the service runs an increasing number of its groups at locations within the community, such as the Friends Meeting House and Moulsecoomb Leisure Centre. The range of activities are diverse, previous examples of groups we offer include Computing, Art and Craft, Writing and Performance and Music related activities, but this is not an exhaustive list. The programmes provide opportunities to learn new skills and meet people in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Groupwork programme
The Life Opportunities Service groupwork programme runs on a 13 week rolling cycle and the slots are 'tendered' for by experienced professionals. Week 6 of each period is designated 'Evaluation Week'. During the evaluation week, service users evaluate each group and comment on whether the group is to their liking, which aspects they enjoy and which ones they do not. The programme can then change depending upon the wishes of the service users.
What the Service aims to achieve
