Women's Drop-in Service

Women's Drop-in Group Service

The Care Co-ops Women's Drop-in groups are safe places in which to come and meet other women, access support about other services and have a confidential chat. The drop-ins run for two hours and run on Friday mornings from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The sessions are facilitated by qualified female workers and there are free refreshments available.

Women who attend the drop-in groups can come for as little time as they want, or can attend for the whole two hours. There is no waiting list and no expectation to attend every week. Women can come when they want to.

Women of all backgrounds can come to the Drop-ins. Some women may be coping with difficulties happening in their lives, others simply feel under stress or isolated, some may have used mental health services and others may be seeing their GPs.

Awareness of Equal Opportunities is an integral part of our service and we endeavour to ensure that all our staff are aware of and sensitive to the variety of oppressions that affect women's mental health.

The Brighton & Hove Primary Care Trust mainly funds the Drop-in Service.

Child Care

An on-site creché facility is no longer available at the Drop-in session venue. However, women attending the Drop-ins are welcome to apply for funding to the Primary Care Trust in order to claim the cost of using the services of a registered child carer while they attend the Drop-in sessions. Applications to the PCT can be made through Care Co-ops. The service user wishing to obtain child care funding would need to liaise with Care Co-ops staff in order to receive this payment and they would then have responsibility for liaising with their chosen registered child carer.
