Life Opportunities
Choice, Control and Independence
Life Opportunities Service supports service users to develop their abilities and gain new skills. It aims to open new horizons, not close doors.
We believe that real choice and control should be central to each person’s life, this is about listening to individuals and acting on their ideas of what is important to them. Service users help us develop our program of activities by choosing the projects that we deliver.
Life Opportunities Service provides a range of creative and educational activities during the day for learning disabled adults and people with mental health support needs. Here are some examples:
Dance, Drama, Pottery, Art, IT and computer skills, Team Skills, Social Skills, Friendships, Peer Support, Independence, Confidence, Positive Self Esteem.

Service users feedback:
I come to meet people, it’s a friendly place
Attending Care Co-ops has been a good experience, it has opened the door to catering and I’m now doing an NVQ at City College. Increased my confidence in the work place and unlocked a new skill.

Work with us
We welcome new and creative ideas from professionals who want to deliver activities and projects within our services. The range of activities that can be offered are diverse and we particularly welcome any innovative and imaginative ideas that people may have for a group. In order to tender for a group at Care Co-ops, a tendering application form will need to be completed.
Each tendering period is for a 25 week period. During the evaluation week, service users evaluate each group and comment on whether the group is to their liking, which aspects they enjoy, and which ones they do not. The facilitator that runs each group is provided with the results of the feedback given by participants within their group.
For further information about obtaining a Life Opportunities Service tendering pack, or to find out details of deadlines for submitting applications, and all other tendering enquiries, please contact the Life Opportunities Team on 01273 685300, or e-mail los@careco-ops.org.uk .
