Women’s Drop-in Service
What is the Drop-In Service?
The Women’s Drop-In is a safe place to meet other women. You can talk to other women about things which matter to you and have a confidential chat with one of our friendly staff. We can also help you to find out about other support and services in the city, offering choices and links to such services.
Women who attend the Drop-In can come for as little time as they want or for the whole two hours. There is no waiting list and no expectation to attend every week, just come along as and when you feel like it. The service is confidential which means you do not need to offer you full name or address, we have no formal registration. The Drop-Ins run for two hours. We provide free refreshments.
Women who have come along have said:
The Drop-Ins are fantastic. If I had known about it years ago my depression and isolation would have been helped much earlier.
I had a baby two years ago and felt depressed at the time. I use the Drop-In when I’m low. It helps me to know it’s there
I turned up and was made to feel welcome. It’s got a warm and friendly feel.
It took me ages to get the courage to come but I felt safer knowing it would only be women
When I’m feeling really low I know the Drop-In is there and someone will listen to me. I don’t go all the time, just when I need to
Each Drop-In is different and they vary from week to week. About six to ten women attend each week.
The Drop-In is staffed by workers from Care Co-ops. Our volunteer workers assist session leaders. We try to make the groups as relaxed, informal and welcoming as possible. You can come along to any or all of the Drop-Ins it’s entirely up to you.
Who comes to the Drop-Ins?
Women of all ages and backgrounds come to the Drop-Ins. Some women may be coping with difficult things happening in their lives, others simply feel under stress or isolated, some may have used mental healthservices and others may be seeing their GP’s.

Drop-Ins Volunteers
Care Co-ops Drop-Ins have volunteers who are an essential part of the service. Volunteers receive in-depth training and are supported by the Life Opportunities Team. Volunteers have a range of experience and backgrounds. As with all the Drop-In team, volunteers do not set themselves up as experts- they are ordinary women there to support the women using the Drop-Ins.
If you want more information about becoming a Drop-In volunteer, please contact the office 01273 685300 or visit our volunteering page for more information.
